Love phoning journalists about newsy stories? Fed up with long meetings, admin and reports?

If so, our Rapid Response PR Manager role at our Newbury office in Berkshire is just for you.

The main role is, as the name suggests, is responding rapidly to news and other opportunities.

The sort of person we are looking for is likely to be a former news journalist, or maybe a PR professional from agency or in-house with strong relevant track-record and who loves buzz of seeing a client appear in the national media through their wit, persistence and contacts.

For this role a typical day would begin with Today programme and scanning the nationals for stories we can piggyback (and checking later for further breaking news to piggyback that day).... and then quickly swinging into action to secure interviews for our clients.

Not everyday will be about chasing opportunities, so you will also be taking the lead on drafting and following up press releases, helping create newsy angles for client stories and, importantly, schmoozing journalists wherever possible.

Coaching clients ahead of interviews will be part of the role too… but lots of meetings and reporting won’t be.

Other important details about the role:

You will have to be within sensible commuting distance of our office in Newbury, Berkshire.
The role can be full time, and it can alternatively be reduced hours for people with childcare responsibilities (say 9.30-3.30, with school holidays off).

For this PR vacancy, you must have:

Have at least 4 years’ relevant experience (please note, internships, holiday jobs, marketing roles, junior press officer, etc isn’t relevant experience... it needs to be 4+ years’ relevant experience taking decisions in a newsy media or PR environment).
English must be your native language.

Salary range:

£30-£50K depending on experience
